God has given us the Gift of Prophecy. Your prophecy prayer request is a gift that only you can use if you choose the gift of prophecy. The prophetic ministry is also a gift and it lies in the center of the church with God ordained prophet. We each have been chosen to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the ministry of the prophetic.

Getting a direct word or message from God and revealing it to someone else is having a gift of prophecy. As a prophet who receives messages from God, he may either speaks it directly or type it out in a place where he can do it called an Office of the Prophet.

Speaking God’s message or prophecy can also be an inspired teaching when a person speaks forth under the inspiration of what God is telling to others, and this person is exercising a prophetic ministry.

Prophetic ministry is intended to inspire and encourage all believers to go on or come closer to God, and find their place in the Body. As soon as they start moving into their ministry in the Body, there are marvelous things that a prophet manifests in his life called the Spiritual Gifts or the Gifts of the Spirit.

Spiritual Gifts include:

• The Word of Knowledge
• The Word of Wisdom
• The Gift of Prophecy
• The Gift of Faith
• The Gifts of Healings
• The Working of Miracles
• The Discerning of Spirits
• Different Kinds of Tongues
• The Interpretation of Tongues

These gifts are given not only for your own personal walk with the Lord but also these gifts must be used to help other people in their special needs and when circumstances occur in their lives.

A prophetic ministry needs the Spiritual Gifts to exercise; Gifts of Tongue, Interpretation, Prophecy and the Word of Wisdom to speak about God’s future plans.

For instance, if you want to speak to someone about the future, it is also needed to deal with the past and present. You can have the courage to say it with the Word of Knowledge along with the Word of Wisdom.

Perhaps, you might be asking yourself, to whom the prophetic ministry is bound for? Prophetic ministry is intended to the true believers who have accepted Jesus as the Savior. So anyone who professes to have received a revelation concerning the World’s future events and announces this to unbelievers is not exercising a prophetic ministry. Another important thing that one must understand is that, if prophet speaks about the future, it is for the church to respond.

Prophet speaks about life. They are not intended to predict catastrophes and make people be terrified of. So, if prophet speaks about disaster or any negative words, it encourages the believers to do the righteous actions and accept not to fear.

Acts 11:27-30

²⁷And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

²⁸And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout the entire world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

²⁹Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:

³⁰Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

A prophetic ministry carries a lot of responsibilities. Prophets are God’s instruments that correct, guide, warn and protect His people. In the New Testament, the Church is described as a living organism designed to act like the human body with its complex interrelationship of many parts and functions.

In the Old Testament, the prophet is compared with the watchman on the walls of the city, wherein it was the watchman who saw the coming of the enemies. Each time the watchman sees the impending enemies, he would warn the people to prepare and defend themselves against the dreadful rivals. This function still relates to the New Testament in which God will reveal to His prophetic ministry what He and His enemies are doing.

The function of the prophetic ministry is to engage in the spiritual warfare of the church. Here are some of the spiritual warfare aspects that prophetic ministry usually manifests:

Intercessory Prayer

Intercessory Prayer is praying on behalf of other people. The prophet is an expert in Intercessory Prayer. An intercessor is the one who prays on behalf of another. The prophetic ministry will receive a revelation about the needs of others. An intercessor will then pray according to what has been revealed.

Amos 3:7 in the Old Testament says:

“Surely the Lord god will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets”.

It means that whatever God does, He is going to do through the prayers of His people. Prophetic ministry is geared to handle this responsibility. That is the reason why God reveals His reason and purpose to the prophets with the intention that they can pray forth His will into the earth.

Singing loud is one way of releasing your emotions in Praise and Worship. It is one way of pouring out your inner feelings and LOVE from the Heart. Prophetic ministries have the power to bring the presence of God into Praise and Worship gathering. It is because the prophetic ministries are spiritually touched with the mind of God and they manifest the spiritual gifts making them capable of bringing God’s presence. It is the Holy Spirit who will help operate, touch the lives of other people, encourage, and give the right direction to God’s people.
